1.Cover reading.
T: What about this boy?Today we will read a picture book about this boy.
Look at the cover.Do you have any questions?
Q1: Who is he?
Q2: Where is he?
Q3: When is it?
Q4: What is the title of the book?
Q5: Why is the dark in the box?
2.Look,read and put the story in order.
T: Let’s enjoy the story.(播放整本書閱讀視頻)
Check the answer with the students.
設計意圖:通過對繪本封面的解讀,學習獲取相關信息,激起學生對故事的好奇心;并通過整體感知,了解故事大意。
3.Detailed reading.
(1)The seasons Andy likes(P6~9).
T: Look! Who is the boy?Which season is it now? What can he do? Which season does Andy like better? Why? Let’s listen.
(Compare: the days are long& the days are short and the nights are long)
Andy doesn’t like the night.Why?
(2)Andy is afraid of the dark(P10~13).
T: Look at Andy.He is looking out of the window.Why is he not happy?(新授dark、be afraid of)
Andy plays wit h his friends happily during the day.But he is in trouble.He’s afraid of the dark.Poor Andy!What can he do?
Read and write.
Andy loves the _____.He can play in the _____ with his friends.He likes the _____.He can play in the _____ with his friends during the _____.

設計意圖:通過圖文共閱,展現(xiàn)了白天縱情玩耍、夜里惶恐不安的小男孩的形象,學生了解主角Andy 的困境。
(3)Andy learns from Dad(P14~21).
T: What is Mum afraid of ?(新授mouse) What does Dad do? What does he say? What is Dad doing?
S: Dad is reading a story about a cat.
T: It’s dark again.What happend to Andy tonight?(新授tonight)
Tonight means the evening or night of today.
What great idea has he got?Do you know? How does he put the dark into the box?( 新授torch) He is brave and strong.
The dark is in the night.Can he have a good sleep tonight?
(4)Andy learns from Dad(P22~25).
T: The next day Andy is with his friends again.What is he doing with them? Do his friends like the dark? How do they feel?

設計意圖:通過問題引導學生觀察插圖、關注文本語言,培養(yǎng)學生的讀圖能力和觀察能力。挖掘故事中隱含的信息合理進行推測,培養(yǎng)學生的邏輯思維力。
4.Read,write and think.
T: Andy learns from others.He shares with others.
設計意圖:通過留白幫助學生復習故事,并在梳理情節(jié)的過程中凸顯故事的關鍵信息“dark、box”,加深學生對故事的理解。
Step 3.Post-reading
1.Learn from the story.
T: What’s the dark to you?In our daily life,we are afraid of something.
S1: The test.
S2: The flies.
T: Some kids are afraid of ghosts,Maths exercises,snakes,insects,getting hurt and so on.They’re the “dark”.We can learn from Andy.Let’s put the “dark” into the box.Do you have your own “box” in your daily life? What’s your “box” like?
S1: Maybe we can shout.
S2: We can talk with our friends.
S3: We can read books,keep trying and so on.
T: Great ideas! With the “box”,you’ll not be afraid of the “dark”.And you’ll be brave and happy.
設計意圖:學生能夠較好地理解繪本中dark、box 象征的意義,結合自身情況,樹立困難不可怕,積極尋方法的意識。故事的分享與交流有利于促進兒童遷移創(chuàng)新能力的發(fā)展,他們在交流分享中展現(xiàn)思維過程,創(chuàng)新運用語言,表達自我情感。
2.Think outside the box
T: Andy is trying not to be afraid of the dark in the story.He finds his box.Let’s try to think outside the box.Sometimes the dark is not so bad.Who loves the dark?
S1: Bats.They hang upside down in the dark all day,then they fly around in it at night.
S2: Stars.They know that no one would be able to see them without the dark.
T: And I like the dark.The dark stays up all night so I can get a good night’s sleep.
Maybe you’ll love the “dark” some day.
設計意圖:引領學生跳出固定思維,用嶄新的視角解讀文本,與其畏懼不如嘗試,培養(yǎng)學生的創(chuàng)造性思維。
【作業(yè)設計】
Play station
1.Read and tell the story to a friend.
2.Make a box and write a list of things with your friends to put into the box.
設計意圖:通過作業(yè)進一步驗證課堂所學。結合繪本中的練習和學生的實際,促使學生完成講故事、做盒子、列清單等任務,在這一過程中,進一步鞏固語言并彰顯繪本的育人價值,落實核心素養(yǎng)。
