有一道句子翻譯題：這是我第一次去倫敦。我翻譯成：This is the first time for me to visit London. 可老師說這個句子翻譯不對，為什么呢？

老師之所以說你翻譯的句子是錯誤的，是因為英語里沒有This is the first time for sb. to do sth. 這種表達(dá)方式。甚至This is my first time to visit London. 這種貌似語法正確的句子也不符合英國人的說話習(xí)慣。這個句子應(yīng)該翻譯成：This is the first time that I have visited London.

老師，“我在森林里迷路過兩次”，可以翻譯成 “I used to get lost in the forest twice”嗎？

不可以。used to意為“過去常?！?。既然是常?！猣requency，就意味著它是something that happened many times，不可能只是twice。所以建議改為：I got lost in the forest twice.

例句：On April 26，2003，he found himself in a very dangerous situation when climbing in Utah. 請問這句話中連詞when后為什么沒有主語？為什么直接接doing？

這涉及時間狀語從句的省略結(jié)構(gòu)。也就是，當(dāng)while， when等引導(dǎo)的從句中的主語和主句中的主語相同時，從句中的主語和be動詞常被省略。原句從句的完整形式是when he was climbing in Utah. 由于和主句中的主語相同，所以省略了he was. 再如：While （you are）in Italy， you should visit the Colosseum. 又如：Metals expand when （they are）heated.
