To Be a Friend of Yourself

Referring to friendship， we often focus on building relationships with others and we always forget the essential first step：being friends of ourselves. This is the most important first step if you want to have good relationships with others. How can you be friends of others if you are not friends of yourselves？

To be a friend of yourself， you should always care about yourself and be kind to yourself. To be a friend of yourself can help you better understand your friends around you and bring more happiness to you and your friends. Others may not know every thing about you and they cant always pat attention to you， so you have to do these things yourselves. You must be good to yourself when your friends are not around you. Sometimes， its yourself who can pull you out from trouble or upset.

My View on Honesty

Honesty is a long-lasting virtue of people and is regarded as the most important quality. People give admiration to those people who are honest， while hate those who often tell lies. However， some people say that in market economy， honesty tends to be less important. But in my point of view， honesty will never be out of date no matter how the situation changes.

Firstly， honesty is always the mainstream in our society and those people who are sincere are respected. On the contrast， the dishonest will be excluded by others. Secondly， no matter in the daily life or in business， people would like to build relationships with the honest. Honesty is the basis of true friendship. In the business， those who make money at the cost of honesty certainly will pay the price in someday. Finally， honesty should become part of our personality that we should treat it as the most valuable fortune of ours. It may not brings you material benefit， but you spirit must be rich.

In short， honesty is an important quality that should deeply root in everyones heart.

Smoking Is Bad for Health

There are many students smoking in senior high school， the reason may be that they think they look cool or appear to be more mature while having a cigarette at hand. But there are a lot of reasons not to smoke. Smoking does harm to our health.It is dangerous to our heart and lung. A lot of diseases are caused by cigarettes. Cigarettes also have terrible smell. The seconghand smoke can also be dangerous to the others who stand around you. Therefore， no smoking in public is a strict regulation in many countries. And the most important thing is that once you come into addicitive，its hard to get rid of it. So， we must keep far from the cigarette——for everybodys health.

A Letter to My Pen Pal

Dear Nate，

I am so excited to hear that you will come to learn Chinese in our school. Now let me tell you something about our school. Our school is the key school of our city with the most beautiful campus. It has many trees， flowers and a lot of grass. We have two very nice and teaching buildings and a dormitory building. In addition， the school is well-equipped with excellent equipment， such as a new gym， a computer room and a large library. There are also a lot of electives to choose from， such as painting， typing and cooking. Above all， there are many excellent teachers in our school. Classes are interesting， the teachers are kind， well-educated and knowledgeable and willing to help students in study as well as in life. I like my school very much. I hope you will like it， too.

My Winter Holiday

During the winter holiday， I was very happy because of the Chinese new year and other reasons. During the holiday， my parents and I went back to my hometown in the countryside in Hebei Province. I had not come back for several years， so that I was so surprised to find that great changes had taken place in this small village in the past years. Almost every family in the village had color TV set and some of them had computers. Many families had their houses newly built or rebuilt. Previously， could be seen everywhere， but now they have taken on an entirely newlook. Motorcycles or even private cars are not luxuries any more.

One of the villagers proudly told me that he and some other villagers were going to join a tour and travel abroad.

Previously， the villagers were busy in their farm work all the year round， but now they have much more time and money to relax or entertain. Traveling has become a new trend among villagers. Seeing these amazing changes， my father said that he would go back to my hometown as soon as he retired. As for me， I strongly supported his idea.
