I love that woman. I love her more than shark loves blood. Kevin Spacey有一種很性感的壞，這話從他口中說出毫不做作。有一種愛，是高手之間的較量和廝守，如鯊魚般冷酷，似熱血般炙烈。弄潮兒的情仇，總是讓旁人覺得消受不起。當Frank發(fā)現(xiàn)自己不是下一任國務卿而頗為沮喪地為自己的失算向Claire道歉時，這王一般的女人卻說My husband never apologize Even to me. （《紙牌屋》）或許真正的女王，不會允許自己有一個hen-pecked husband （懼內(nèi)的丈夫）. Claire獨特的魅力讓她可能被任何人追求，但我清楚地記得她在拒絕別人時評價丈夫的話：You know what Francis said to me when he proposed? I remember his exact words. He said, “Claire, if all you want is happiness, say no. I’m not gonna give you a couple of kids and count the days until retirement. I promise you freedom from that. I promise you’ll never be bored.” 很多人不明白，愛一個人未必是給予他世俗的幸福，而是看到對方心中真正的所需。這是為什么不僅王子和公主可以幸福，任何人都有可能與合適的另一半live happily ever after.

說到愛情，我們都經(jīng)歷過青蔥歲月，竊以為最純美的情話，多出于此時。You can sit here if you want對于little Forrest來說，不僅是the sweetest voice in the wide world,更是一生摯愛的開始。（《阿甘正傳》）在他們婚后一個安靜的早晨，病榻中的Jenny問自己的丈夫：“Hey, Forrest. Were you scared in Vietnam?”后面的對話讓我感到無比的平靜，這或許是愛的另一種表象。Gump：“Well, I… I don’t know. Sometimes it would stop raining long enough for the stars to come out, and then it was nice. It was just like before the sun goes to bed down on the bayou. There were always a million sparkles on the water. Like that mountain lake. It was so clean, Jenny, it looked like there were two skies, one on top of the other. And then in the desert, when the sun comes up, I couldn’t tell where heaven stopped and the earth began. It’s so beautiful.” Jenny：“I wish I could have been there with you.”Gump：“You were.”看似跑題的回答，讓Jenny知道Gump always has her in mind. 生命中的美好與快樂，常常是因為心中有愛，于是任何地方都有風景，即使獨處也不孤單。不久之后，Jenny故去，經(jīng)歷了戰(zhàn)火和生活洗禮的“大男孩”Forrest在墓前用最簡單的話語說出了對愛妻的樸素情感—if there is anything you need, I won’t be far away. 當你需要時，我在不遠處。愛是陪伴，相對則廝守，離別則思念。

廣義上的愛，并不只限于兩情相悅，而是有著更加豐富的內(nèi)涵。我喜歡《當幸福來敲門》，不僅因為Chris Cardner的生活折射了所有在外漂泊的苦與樂，也因為那對父子之間的惺惺相惜。Love makes people tough. Chris愛自己的孩子，對要帶走孩子的妻子說：Don’t you ever take my son away from me. Christopher is living with me! 有人或許會奇怪，為什么一個沒有受過高等教育，每天還被孩子拖累的人能夠在競爭中勝出，我想，愛有時看似拖累，可卻是力量的源泉。Chris對孩子的愛，并不體現(xiàn)在玩具或零食的多少，而是體現(xiàn)在無處不在的關(guān)懷和正能量的傳遞。這對父子在天臺籃球場上的對白，相信很多人都印象深刻，甚至能夠脫口而出：Don’t ever let somebody tell you that you can’t do something. Not even me. You got a dream, you gotta protect it. People can’t do something themselves wanna tell you that you can’t do it. If you want something, go get it, Period. 愛別人與自愛，很多時候是我們強大的本源。

When I was asked to write an article on the topic “how to say love in English”, I planned to, at least for a sec, write about sentences and vocabularies that you may be able to use in love letters. But when I started to search in mind what love really looks like, I changed the topic. Now this article is called “What does love sound like in English”. When we talk about love, the word “l(fā)ove” isn’t always necessary. If we do have love in our hearts, every word can delivery that information without being misunderstood. Love, is a language itself, isn’t it?
