ChatGPT in the classroom

ChatGPT對于教育領(lǐng)域來說，到底是應(yīng)該被封禁的作弊工具，還是應(yīng)當被鼓勵的學(xué)習工具呢？

1 Despite concerns about whether students are using ChatGPT to cheat on exams or as a shortcut to doing their coursework， a national survey shows students and teachers have quickly incorporated the new technology into their everyday lives.

2 Laila Ayala， a student at Comp Sci High in New York， has used ChatGPT to do some research for her debate team on the effects of AI on students and students mental health. In Kentucky， high school junior Zachary Clifton said hes used ChatGPT to create study guides for some of the college courses he takes at a nearby community college.

3 The survey also found 63% of students and 72% of teachers agreed with the idea that ChatGPT is “just another example of why we cant keep doing things in the old way for schools in the modern world”， and 73% of teachers said the tool “can help students learn more”.

4 Romy Drucker， a director of the survey， said， “I think teachers are ahead of students in thinking about how ChatGPT and AI can be both support to teachers and something more.” Diego Marin， an eighth?grade math teacher in Illinois， said he uses ChatGPT to craft multiple?choice questions and as an assistant for lesson planning and interacting with students families. Marin said hes not concerned about students using the platform to cheat in his class， but he told his students he expected them to use the platform morally.

5 In Texas， eighth?grade English teacher Patrick Powers said he has allowed students to use ChatGPT for debate topics， but he said he recommends teachers learn a students writing voice before allowing them to use the platform. He said students need new ways to learn and teachers should adapt to new tools rather than fearing them. “Students need fresh， innovative methods to be interactive，” Powers said. Many teachers said some of their colleagues are starting to learn more about ChatGPT and use the platform in their courses， too.
