As noted by the historian and geographer Zou Yilin in his bookThe Yellow River over 2,000 Years, the Yellow River Basin featured a warm and humid climate, lush forests, and plentiful water and grasses in its early years, and traces of human activities dating back to the Paleolithic Age can be found here. The ancient cultural remains of the Yellow River can be found in almost the entire basin, which is a living testimony to China’s human history of millions of years, cultural history of tens of thousands of years, and civilization history of more than 5,000 years.
Civilization accumulates, deposits, and advances continuously in the Yellow River Basin. Much as they are mute and silent, the words and cultural relics are describing the roots and soul of the Yellow River and our nation to us. And the Yellow River flows to the east day after day while never flaunting its history.
