Overseas Media Helping to Present Yunyang on the Global Stage
By Liu Dingrui/The World and Chongqing
From April 28th to 29th, the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal Government organized a field trip to Yunyang County by a delegation from the overseas media in Chongqing including Singapore Lianhe Zaobao, Nikkei Shimbun, Hong Kong Dagong Wenhui Media Group, Hong Kong Business Daily, and Chongqing media like Chongqing Daily, Chongqing International Communication Center and The World & Chongqing Magazine. The delegation wrote reports and took pictures to cover Yunyangs effort for rural revitalization and eco-development, as well as its great vitality.
“The trip gives me a very good experience and a deeper understanding of rural revitalization and development of Yunyang. The natural environment in Yunyang is well protected. The greenway around the lake allows citizens to enjoy the scenery while working out. Up the river along the greenway, there is a golden beach which stands out against the greenery. From my perspective, the biggest challenge faced by Yunyang is currently the long distance from Chongqing proper. The over four-hour drive makes potential visitors reluctant to travel. However, the high-speed railway opening soon will make Yunyang a place with great attraction. With a less than 2-hour travel, visitors from Chongqing proper and its neighboring area may flock to Yunyang.”

Correspondent of Singapore Lianhe Zaobao in Chongqing
“I have heard that Yunyang is a wonderful place sitting on the bank of the Yangtze and the interior of the Three Gorges. The county is home to a gigantic sinkhole dubbed “the first jar in the world” and “the longest stone ladder along the Yangtze”. The wide roads, long alleys, and beautiful mountains are lit up by thousands of households located right along the stone ladder. To see is to believe. The place is even more stunning than what I heard. Along the beautiful mountains and rivers, Yunyangs rural revitalization is making great headway. People here are energetic and happy. The county is an epitome of the idyllic rural area of Chongqing.”

“During the trip, I was deeply impressed by the remarkable progress and momentum of Yunyangs development. Based on its planting industry, Yunyang is industrializing its agricultural sector, an important strategy of its rural revitalization efforts. Farmers here are able to engage in both rural planting and industrialization, namely to coordinate industrial development and agricultural production. The agricultural product processing industry acts as a bridge connecting agriculture and farmers with industrialization, providing important support for agricultural modernization and playing a key role in promoting the quality and efficiency of agricultural production. Such efforts enable new breakthroughs and foster a promising future of rural revitalization. During the visit, we also talked with Yunyang leadership and were impressed by their solidarity, passion, and dedication in developing their hometown.”

“Generally speaking, Yunyang has efficiently combined economic development and ecological protection. The cultural tourism is thriving in Chongqing proper and also has demonstrated a full-fledged development in the Districts/Counties. Transportation used to hold tourism back in Yunyang. However, the upcoming high-speed railway will usher the its tourism into a new stage. One remarkable highlight of Yunyangs rural revitalization efforts is its effective combination of rural revitalization with eco-friendly loquat planting and forestation along the Yangtze, a way to promote the development of secondary and tertiary industries in the agricultural sector.”
