暗喻（metaphor）：也叫隱喻，根據(jù)兩個(gè)事物間的某些共同特征，將某一事物的名稱用于另一事物。暗喻一般是本體、喻體都出現(xiàn)，但找不出像like， as， as if， as though 之類的喻詞，通常有“be， become等詞”。例如：

（暗喻）Shenzhen is a melting pot where new ideas are mixed.

（明喻）Shenzhen is like a melting pot where new ideas are mixed.

1. Sometimes the river becomes a waterfall and enters wide valleys.（選自M1Unit 3 P18）

[句意]有時(shí)河流變成瀑布，進(jìn)入寬闊的山谷。

[分析]把河流比喻成瀑布，描繪出了河水的流動(dòng)之美，使之更加形象具體。
