This teenager is Tanner.He had saved some money rather than spent it on games or toys so that he could buy a new electric wheelchair for his friend Brandon.

Tanner and Brandon have been friends for years.At that time,both of them went to the same high school,but Brandon met some trouble.He had difficulty in getting through the hallways.Besides,because Brandon used a push wheelchair to go in from class to class,his arms started to hurt after he used them for a long time.His friend Tanner found this and decided to try his best to help Brandon.

Brandon didn't know that Tanner had spent the last two years secretly hiding all of his money from his part-time job at a car repair shop in order to buy him an electric wheelchair.

Tanner finally managed to buy a wheelchair last month.When he came into the classroom with it,Brandon got a surprise and couldn't help crying.

“It's been my dream to have one of these.I can't believe he does that for me and my dream has come true,”Brandon said excitedly.

Tanner's mother says that the two boys have been happy to read all the messages of praise that they have received from readers since their story was shared online—especially Tanner.

“Tanner has had some bad experiences over the last year.That he is able to help somebody else has really brought him out of himself.What he did has made a difference to him,”Tanner's mother told the reporter. “And I can see a change in him,like wanting to get out and do more,”she added.

rather than作連詞，意為“而不是……”，其前后接對(duì)等的名詞、代詞、形容詞、介詞（短語）、動(dòng)名詞（短語）、分句、不定式（短語）、動(dòng)詞等。rather than連接兩個(gè)名詞或代詞作主語時(shí)，謂語動(dòng)詞應(yīng)與rather than前面的名詞或代詞在人稱和數(shù)上保持一致；sb.spend some time/money on sth.是常見的固定搭配，意為 “某人在某事上花費(fèi)多少時(shí)間/金錢”，主語是人。

這位少年就是坦納。他沒有把錢花在游戲或玩具上，而是存下這些錢，為的是能夠給他的朋友布蘭登買一臺(tái)新的電動(dòng)輪椅。

坦納和布蘭登多年來一直是朋友，而且他倆都去了同一所高中。但布蘭登遇到了一些困難，他很難（坐著輪椅）穿過走廊。另外，因?yàn)椴继m登要使用推式輪椅從一個(gè)教室到另一個(gè)教室，他的手臂在長(zhǎng)時(shí)間使用后開始疼痛。他的朋友坦納發(fā)現(xiàn)了這種情況并決定盡自己的最大努力去幫助布蘭登。

布蘭登不知道坦納在過去兩年里悄悄地把他在一家汽車修理店做兼職掙的錢都攢起來，為的是給他買一臺(tái)電動(dòng)輪椅。
