Whales And Rainbows

A photographer9 took an amazing photo. It shows a rainbow in the sky above a whale. Rainbows form when sunlight hits drops of water. The water may be rain or fog. It can also be mist10 that comes out of a whales blowhole（鯨魚頭頂?shù)暮粑祝?

Whales blowholes are like nostrils（鼻孔）. When a whale breathes out， the water vapor（水蒸氣）in its breath turns into drops of water. If the light is just right， a rainbow will form there， too.

Although sunlight looks white， it is actually made up of many different colors. When light hits the drops of water， it bends11. It also bounces12 back at you. You can see all the different colors. If the sun is behind you and the water drops are in front， you will see a rainbow.

彩虹鯨魚

一位攝影師拍下了一張神奇的照片：一只鯨魚的頭頂出現(xiàn)了一道彩虹。我們知道，陽光射向水滴時會形成彩虹，雨或霧都會有同樣的效果，甚至是鯨魚的呼吸孔噴出的水汽。

鯨魚的呼吸孔類似人類的鼻孔。當(dāng)鯨魚呼氣時，蒸氣遇冷凝結(jié)成水。倘若此時光線角度合適，彩虹便會形成。

事實上，白色的太陽光是由不同顏色的光合成的。當(dāng)光線射向水滴便會被折射及反射，不同的光譜隨即會出現(xiàn)。如果陽光在你背后，而水滴在前，就能看見彩虹了。
