      【Abstract】In recent years, with the continuous promotion of quality education, multimedia technology as an advanced teaching method which has played an important role in the reform of primary school English classroom teaching. Rational use of multi-media teaching can not only stimulate students interest in learning, make boring knowledge interesting, make abstract language image concrete, but also improve students comprehensive language application ability.

      The so-called “multimedia” refers to a computer-centric, word processing, graphics and image processing, sound processing, audio-visual processing and other technologies organically combined, thus forming a new technology. Multimedia has the advantages of both sound and form, which conforms to the psychological characteristics of pupils in learning English. On the basis of inheriting the traditional teaching methods, multimedia technology is properly introduced into classroom teaching, so that they can display their strengths and complement each other, thus optimizing the classroom structure. This is called “multimedia teaching”. In primary school English classroom teaching, multimedia technology can make primary school English classroom “l(fā)ive” and improve classroom teaching efficiency. As a front-line primary school teacher, the author combines teaching experience, talking about the advantages of multimedia technology in primary school English classroom teaching.

      1. The characteristics of multimedia teaching in primary schools

      1.1 Multimedia is intuitiveprimary at primary school English teaching. Primary school English classroom is mainly targeted at primary school students. The design of primary school English multimedia courseware should follow the principle of simplicity and intuition; focusing on the prominent; concise and clear, innovative teaching ideas; so that students can easily accept and improve their enthusiasm for learning English.

      1.2 Multimedia is enlightening at primary school English teaching. Pupils are active, good at imitation and have strong desire to perform. The production of English multimedia in primary schools should try to select the content life that students are familiar with, create a simulated teaching environment, present new teaching knowledge, guide students to learn to play in the process of learning knowledge , let students master what they have learned in a relaxed and pleasant learning atmosphere, and inspire students wisdom.

      2. The advantages of multimedia technology in primary English classroom teaching

      2.1 Multimedia technology is conducive to breaking through the difficulties in the process of teaching. The New English Curriculum Standard for Primary School emphasizes the importance of three-dimensional goals, the most basic of which is knowledge and skills goals, and the realization of knowledge and skills goals requires teachers to break through difficulties. Classroom teaching time is limited, the use of multimedia can maximize the use of limited teaching space, so that the presentation of teaching content diversification. Teachers highlight the key, breakthrough difficulties which is one of the common teaching methods.

      2.2 Multimedia technology is conducive to stimulating pupils interest in learning English. Einstein said, “interest is the best teacher.” Interest is this kind of psychological mood which can urge the student to pay attention to highly centralized, produces the positive initiative to seek knowledge desire. Therefore, in classroom design teachers should firmly grasp the pupilsstrong curiosity, good imitation, strong desire for performance, avoid boring and straightforward teaching methods, but should adopt innovative and flexible multimedia teaching methods, create simulated scenes close to students real life, arouse students interest and desire in learning.

      In a word, the application of multimedia technology in primary school English classroom teaching is becoming more and more widespread and has the limitations of surpassing the traditional English classroom teaching. According to the teaching content, teachers should make rational use of multimedia technology to provide students with an image, interesting and relaxed classroom teaching so as to stimulate studentsinterest in English learning. And so that they can actively participate in classroom learning. The advantages of multimedia in primary school English teaching are incomparable. Its interventional application injects fresh blood into teaching and brings about a whirlwind of agility, just like the “catalyst” of English teaching activities, which promotes the efficiency of primary school English classroom teaching.
