Situated at the famed World Heritage site of Kyoto’s Shimogamo jinja, the open weave is a 1.8 meter cubic tea ceremony room weaved in white thread. The room is the fruit of painstaking labour and precision in craftsmanship. Each thread is delicately weaved by hand to create these ethereal surfaces that make up the whole venue. Through this tearoom, the design team is aiming to convey the importance and preciousness of delicate handmade craftsmanship.
