Recently, our class had a heated debate on whether we should explore the cultural site, which was discovered recently.
Some people are in favor of the idea. They think the cultural site is worth exploring, making people learn more about the long history of our country. Whats more, this cultural site can attract more visitors to our city, which will improve our tourism. However, others hold the opposite opinion, thinking that we should keep it as it is and protect it properly. Only in this way can it not be destroyed by people.
As far as Im concerned, we should ask the experts for advice to find a better way to make good use of this cultural site.

Dear Jenny,
Thank you very much for your concern about the Leshan Giant Buddha. Now I will tell you something about its present situation.
Due to the continuous high temperature and drought, the water level of the Leshan Giant Buddha platform was lower than the normal water level for the same period in August last year. Actually, the platform itself doesnt belong to the Buddha, so the body of the Buddha is all exposed.
The Leshan Giant Buddha is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Sichuan. Why not come and see it yourself?
Yours,
Li Hua

The earliest evidence of the Maya calendar has been found in Guatemala recently.
When researchers were sorting throu?gh pieces of an ancient temple collected from the San Bartolo archaeological site, two pieces caught their attention. They fitted together to form the date symbol of the day 7 Deer, one of the dates from the 260?day calendar. The pieces are from a temple dating back between 2,300 and 2,200 years.
According to researchers, this is the earliest example of the use of the Maya calendar.

即時訓練
In order to arouse students interest in learning English and enrich our school life, our English club held an English speech contest with the theme of “Protecting Chinese cultural heritage” last week. Hundreds of us took part in it.
As scheduled, students gathered at the assembly hall at 2 pm on Tuesday. After the hosts introduced the topic and judges, 15 competitors delivered their speeches in turn, which were well received by the audience. They were graded on the language, outline, as well as performance, and were presented awards accordingly.
The activity benefited us a lot. Not only does it improve our English ability, but it also stimulates our passion for protecting the ancient cultural heritage. What a wonderful time!

Paragraph 1:
Hearing this, I remembered that in college Id been trained in CPR. Suddenly, memories of the training flooded into my mind. I bent down by the little girl and asked if anyone had called 911. The woman standing next to the little girls mother nodded weakly. I checked for a pulse, found none and began performing CPR. Her mother continued to cry sharply, but I focused on all the steps I remembered from my CPR class.
Paragraph 2:
Time was passing slowly and my heart was waiting in expectation. Sure enough, the girl came to herself. She coughed violently. Then she began to cry just as an ambulance pulled up. I stepped aside while rescuers began their work. Her mother sat next to her, shaking in excitement. “Youre done here,” the voice inside my head said. So I turned around and walked away, even as I heard the mother call out to me, “Thanks!”

Cultural relics protection
As we all know, cultural relics can help us know a period of history, and contribute to cultural research. Besides, cultural relics are precious wealth left by our ancestors, which play an important role in history. In addition, they can deepen the love for our motherland.
What should we do to protect cultural relics? First, we should make relevant laws and increase the punishment for illegal acts. Second, we should raise awareness of the protection of cultural relics. As students, we should be civilized tourists and not destroy cultural relics.

Before I could gather myself enough even to say thank you, the woman walked away with smiles.
Paragraph 2:
I asked the cashier about the woman helping me. “Does she work in the store?” I asked. “Her name is Mary. Mary doesnt work here, but she is very warm?hearted and often helps customers choose the right goods,” the cashier said. Before I left the store, I took another look around for the woman who had sent me back to happy memories of my children. I found her at last and showed my sincere thanks to her.
