The Emperor’s New Clothes

教育家告訴我們：“沒有童話、沒有活躍的想象，孩子就無法生活。童話，形象地講，就是能夠吹燃孩子思想和言語火花的清新微風(fēng)?！蓖瑢W(xué)們一定看過很多童話故事吧？哪一個童話故事是你最喜歡的呢？江蘇省常州市武進(jìn)區(qū)星韻學(xué)校的同學(xué)們用英語劇的形式，向大家展示了一個詼諧幽默的童話故事：從前，有一位皇帝非常喜歡新衣服，這次，他得到了一件特別的衣服……這件衣服有多特別呢？這個童話能讓我們明白什么樣的道理呢？大家一起來欣賞吧！

Narrator： Once upon a time， there was an emperor who was fond of wearing new clothes. Every afternoon at one o’clock， he tried on his clothes in the dressing room. One day， four rogues（騙子） came to his palace.

Scene 1

Waiter： Look！ The queen is coming！

Queen： Where is the emperor？

Waiter： The emperor is in his dressing room！

Queen： My dear emperor， look at these beautiful clothes. Do you like them？

Emperor： I don’t like these clothes！ Who can make new clothes for me？

Waiter： Four weavers（織工） come to the town. They said they can make the best clothes in the world.

Emperor： Take them here at once！

Rogues： Your Majesty！

Emperor： Introduce yourselves.

Rogue A： We come from the Far East（遠(yuǎn)東）.

Rogue B： We can weave splendid（極好的） clothes.

Rogue C： The colors and patterns will be amazing！

Rogue D： And the wise can see them， but the foolish cannot.

Emperor： So the clothes must be woven for me at once！

Rogues： Yes， Your Majesty！

Scene 2

Minister A： What？ Nothing， I can see nothing！

Rogue A： Dear minister， be closer， look at them carefully！

Rogue B： Are they beautiful？

Minister A： My god！ Am I stupid？ I can’t see anything. This fact cannot be known by others！

Rogue C： Minister， are you satisfied with them？

Minister B： Yes， they are so beautiful！ I will tell the Emperor that I like them very much！

Rogues： We are very happy to hear that！

Officer A： My god， why？ I cannot see the clothes！ Am I unfit for my office？ I have never thought so myself...

Rogue D： Are they nice？

Officer A： Nice， they are very nice！

Rogue A： Are you satisfied（滿意的） with them？

Officer B： Yes， they are perfect！

Rogues： Thanks a lot！

Scene 3

Waiter： Your Majesty， the ministers and officers are coming！

Emperor： Let them in！

Ministers and officers：

Your Majesty！

Emperor： How are my new clothes？

Minister A： They will be finished soon！

Officer A： They’re really nice！

Minister B： I like the clothes very much.

Officer B： All the people will like it！

Emperor： That’s great！ I can’t wait to try them on.

Waiter： Your Majesty， the weavers are coming！

Emperor： Let them in！

Rogues： Your majesty！ Here are your new clothes！

Rogue A： These are the trousers.

Rogue B： This is the coat.

Emperor： What？ I can see nothing at all！ Am I unfit to be an emperor？ No， I must keep secret. I will never confess（承認(rèn)）? that I could not see the clothes.

Ministers： Your Majesty， are they beautiful？

Officers： Look， what a design！ What beautiful colors！

Emperor： Really splendid！

Rogues： Thanks， Your Majesty

Waiter： Your majesty， the procession（游行大典） is to take place. Please fit on the new suit.

Emperor： Sure！

Scene 4

Waiter： It’s time for the procession！

Audience A： How beautiful our emperor’s new clothes are！

Audience B： Our emperor looks charming in his new suit！

Child： But he hasn’t got anything on.

Audience C： Oh， God， listen to the voice of innocence（純真）！

Audiences： But he hasn’t got anything on.

Emperor： Oh no！ The people are right， but the procession must go on！
