Dear Paul,
Hearing that you run into difficulties with your Chinese listening, Im writing to express my concern and offer you some advice on how to learn it well.
Your problem is so common among foreign learners that you neednt worry too much. As the saying goes, “Practice makes perfect!” So its a good idea to practice Chinese daily. Besides, listening to Chinese radio programs is a good choice, which can not only entertain you, but also improve your listening skills. Additionally, you can communicate with your Chinese teacher who can tell you how to improve your Chinese listening ability effectively.
I hope my advice can be helpful! Wish you all the best.
Yours,
Li Hua

Dear Mr Smith,
I feel greatly honored to write and extend our thanks to you on behalf of my fellow students. How I wish that you could continue to be with us.
More than a year has passed since you came to our school for the exchange program. We have been greatly inspired by your good behavior and sense of duty. In the past year, not only did you teach us knowledge, but also you taught us how to behave. With your encouragement, we began to communicate with each other in English whenever possible. Besides, our understanding of English and its culture has been greatly enhanced.
Thank you again. Wish you a pleasant journey home and all the best for the future.
Yours,
Li Hua

Dear Jack,
I admire your passion for the Chinese language and Im more than happy to give you some help.
Here is a popular four?word Chinese idiom which I think you might be interested in. It is called Shou Zhu Dai Tu. It is used to describe someone who is lazy and sits around and waits for something good to happen. The idiom originated from the story of a farmer who saw a rabbit bump into a tree stump and die. This gave him the idea of waiting near the tree stump for more rabbits to kill themselves that way. The farmer waited for a long time, but such a coincidence did not occur again.
The lesson behind this idiom is—if we really long for something, we have to strive for it.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

I will offer you some advice which will help you to remember English words. From my point of view, you must learn to read English words first instead of only being able to spell them. In addition, you had better remember more phrases and make up more sentences because words will be learned better in context. Furthermore, reading more English articles is also of great importance for you to enlarge your vocabulary. Do remember to take notes when you meet with some unknown words. My problem is that I cant write well. Who can give me some good advice?
小試牛刀
Ill give some suggestions on improving your English reading speed. One is to divide the text into some sections and read the text in each section. Another suggestion is to skim the main idea first. Take reading a novel as an example. Taking advantage of the title, the table of contents, subtitles, captions under pictures, and the first paragraph, we can easily piece them together and grasp the gist of the story. With these reading techniques, you will absorb more information while reading and read faster. I sometimes have trouble with English speaking. Any advice?

I place my foot into Moms waist belt and try to stand, but it slips off. Fortunately, Mom grasps me by the wrist before I lose my balance and tumble backwards. My heart leaps into my throat. Meanwhile,? ?Tomeus? ?words? ?echo? ?in? ?my

Paragraph 2:
Tomeu and I grasp each others arms, and our tower is complete. I breathe a sigh of relief. It is not until this moment that I truly feel the charm of castle building. I am no longer frightened. Beneath me, the base feels strong, and my heart beats steady in my chest. Far below, I can hear the? crowds? cheering.? I? smile? across? at Tomeu. We win this competition, and I know we have done our best. Our team has worked together. With faith in each other and with focus on the task, we have built our castle. Today, I am a casteller!

第五部分 寫作
第一節(jié)
Chinese: A language for life
With the development of our economy, China is playing a more and more important role in the world, which attracts many foreigners from different countries to learn Chinese.
They admire and appreciate Chinese culture and history, so they consider it necessary to learn Chinese well as a way to know more about China. Besides, they can possess a good chance and an advantage to live or work in China if they can speak Chinese fluently and accurately. Chinese is becoming really popular among those who want to seek fortune in China.
It is obvious that our country is well recognized and is getting powerful internationally, of which we Chinese really feel proud.
第二節(jié)
Paragraph 1:
After a while, I made friends with some native speakers. They were another way I learned English. I would pick up a lot of cool expressions just from spending time with them. My friends were patient with me and helped me a lot, but I often became discouraged. Seeing I gave up speaking English, they tried to encourage me to speak out. They often invited me to their parties where I was surrounded by English atmosphere and I was forced to communicate with them in English.
Paragraph 2:
Thinking back on the ways I have learned English over the years, I have something to say. It is clear that I am a visual learner —I learn by seeing and looking. I have the most success when reading and using written materials. I enjoy reading books, newspapers and magazines. Of course, it is also very important to be able to speak and listen. So, I spend lots of time trying to develop these skills, like getting involved in social activities with friends. So, if I could become more and more fluent, so can you!
