At 23:20 Beijing time on January 7,2020,China launched an experimental satellite for communications technology onboard a LM-3B carrier rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center.The satellite entered its preset orbit,marking the success of China’s first launch mission in 2020.
The communications technology experimental satellite 5 was developed by the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology,and will be mainly used for satellite communications,radio and television,data transmission,and high-throughput technology test verification.
The LM-3B launch vehicle which carried out this launch belongs to the LM-3A family,which was developed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology.
This was the 324th mission of the LM series launch vehicle and the 109th launch in the LM-3A family.
CASC plans to conduct more than 40 launch missions in 2020.Among them,the LM-3B launch vehicle is planned to conduct 10 missions to complete the BeiDou global satellite navigation system networking plus launch international commercial satellites.(LIU Yan/CASC)
