The Chinese people's celebration of Labor Day dates back to 1918. On theeve of May 1st in 1921,workers learned to sing the May 1st Memorial Song at theChangxindian Labor School founded by Deng Zhongxia and others, members of theCommunist Group in Beijing.
In September 1999,the State Council reformed and introduced a new 1)statutoryleave system. Every year, the National Day,the Spring Festival, and the“May 1”statutory holidays make the country have three 7-day holidays.Since then, the three“Golden Week”set off by the tourism2)consumption fever has become a new bright spot in China’seconomic life and holiday economy has become a new topic talkedabout by people. From November 9,2007,the 3)adjustment plan for national statutoryholidays after many studies and arguments was announced. The contents of the adjustment mainly include that the beginning of the Spring Festival holiday is adjusted from the first day of the Lunar New Year to New Year's Eve; "May 1"was adjusted from 7 days to 3 days and was reduced by 4 days; Qingming,DragonBoat Festival, and Mid-Autumn Festival are added as statutory holidays, each with a day off. The May Day“Golden Week" would also become history.
May is the season of labor. May is the season of youth. May is the season of beautiful flowers.
President Xi said,“Regardless of how the times change,we must always treat work and working people with reverence and respect, and we must always attach significance to the leading role of the working class and working people. This is why it is so important that we observe the 'May 1st' International Labor Day."
