一張張潔白的展板豎立在人來(lái)人往的過(guò)道旁,上面展示了荷蘭CUBE設(shè)計(jì)博物館推出的主題為“Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Toilets, But Were Afraid to Ask”(廁所寶典)的展覽。

On December 15th, 2018, Consulate General of the Netherlands in Chongqing unveiled a unique Dutch Day·Bathroom Culture Festival at Red Star Macalline (Jiangbei Store), which highlighted the unique toilet civilization of the Netherlands and the spirit of Chongqing's humanity. Koen Sizoo, Consul General of the Netherlands in Chongqing, Tang Wen, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Municipal Government, Fan Qing, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Municipal Government, He Jun, Deputy Director of the Market System Building Department of the Municipal Commercial Committee, and Tang Hao, Deputy General Manager of Business Promotion Center, Red Star Macalline Chongqing attended the activities.
“God created the world, but the Dutch people created the Netherlands.” Mr Koen Sizoo said in his speech: “The Netherlands is a creative country and has created a world-leading toilet civilization. At the same time, the Netherlands and Chongqing share similar culture. As a very inclusive country, the Netherlands encourages open-mindedness and tranquil attitude towards life, while Chongqing advocates straightforward culture, that means one is expected to rigorously and not rigidly adhere to the rules.
The Chongqing Dutch Day·Bathroom Culture Festival lasted for two days. It adhered to the theme of spreading toilet civilization and global environmental protection. Besides, it introduced the contents of the Dutch CUBE Design Museum Toilet Culture Exhibition, so that people know more than the physiological dimension of the toilet culture; rather, they might explore the in-depth aspects such as science and technology, health, human rights, and world environmental protection. In his speech, Mr Tang Wen said that he believes that this year's "Dutch Day" activities will further enhance Chongqing citizens' understanding of the Netherlands, promote cooperation and exchanges between the two sides, and ignite a splendid Sino-Dutch culture spark.
A piece of white board is erected in the aisle where people pass, showing the exhibition themed by “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Toilets, But Were Afraid to Ask” (the toilet collection) launched by the CUBE Design Museum in the Netherlands. The panels showcase the history of toilet design, other equipment designs that explore health and environmental issues, and the potential uses of excrement and so on.
At the same time, the Dutch top hat queen Elisabeth Koch teamed up with the model to showcase the Dutch hat culture. Dipped in the fragrance of tulips, the models wear a variety of beautiful top hats, blending with features like the windmill, cows and wooden shoes, in the ocean of flowers.
According to reports, the top hat plays an important role in European traditional fashion. It is both a major fashion accessory for European women and a symbol of identity. It was a must for ancient European aristocratic women to wear hats, because different hats represented different classes. This tradition has been passed down to this day although the hat no longer represents the class; but as long as it is a large-scale festival, women will wear all kinds of hats to show their charm.
During the event, two Dutch teachers from Chongqing Technology and Business University shared the customs and culture of the Netherlands with the students. At the most beautiful Dutch children's book reading workshop, teachers explores the child's imagination through the Dutch cartoon image, children's reading, children's literature, children's movies and a variety of live interactive performances, so that children can experience the Dutch-flavor children fun and joy through learning.
Since 2015, Consulate General of the Netherlands in Chongqing started to hold a series of cultural exchange activities in the “Dutch Day” in Chongqing every year. A variety of activities, enable us to appreciate the unique charm of the Netherlands in the fields of culture, sports, agriculture, art and design by offering Chongqing citizens and industry insiders valuable opportunities to experience a pure Dutch culture.
