《世界之巔》收錄于木匠兄妹（Carpenter組合）1972年的專輯《為你歌唱》（A Song For You）中。該組合由著名的歌星卡倫·卡朋特與她哥哥理查德·卡朋特組成?？▊愑?950年出生于美國康耐狄格州，從小在哥哥的帶領(lǐng)下學(xué)習(xí)樂器，在樂隊(duì)中擔(dān)任鼓手兼主唱。哥哥理查德具有很高的音樂天賦，在樂隊(duì)中擔(dān)任鍵盤手兼音樂制作人。兄妹二人在著名經(jīng)紀(jì)人德紐文的幫助下進(jìn)入美國流行樂壇，創(chuàng)作了大量歌曲。1970年，一曲《靠近你》（Close To You）使木匠兄妹一炮走紅，之后他們不斷有佳作問世，經(jīng)典歌曲《昨日重現(xiàn)》（Yesterday Once More）也是他們在這個時期創(chuàng)作的。上個世紀(jì)70年代中期，木匠兄妹成為無數(shù)美國青年的偶像，是當(dāng)時美國流行文化的代表性人物。令人惋惜的是，卡倫32歲時便因厭食癥過早地離開人世。
