走近“臉盲”

In everyday life we will meet people who are color blind.These people lack the ability to distinguish some certain colors,for example,the most common one,red&green.There are also people who are not sensible to roads and directions,which means they might lose their way to a place even after they have been there many times.

But have you ever heard of the phrase“face blindness”or met someone several times who still can’t recognize you?

Will you feel a little disrespected or offended when meeting such a person?Don’t be.It`s not their fault because they don’t try to ignore you.

They are patients who have a condition of the brain called"face blindness."Its actual name is developmental prosopagnosia,or DP for short.

Experts say DP can differ greatly from patient to patient.In less severe cases,people are unable to describe the face of someone they have just met.In severe cases,people cannot even recognize their own children in a group photograph.

Most people can recognize the very famous face of George Clooney.Some people with severe DP can't.

They found that people with DP may not have been able to remember faces,but they could recognize objects,scenes and bodies.

Do you feel sorry for the face blind?But you can make the best use of it.Next time when you meet someone who doesn’t ring a bell,you can reduce the awkwardness by saying you are face blind.

他們的大腦患有一種俗稱“臉盲”的病癥，其醫(yī)學(xué)名稱是“面孔失認(rèn)證”。專家說，不同患者，患病程度也不盡相同。程度輕的，描述不出他們剛遇到的人的面部；程度重的，根本認(rèn)不出自己孩子的照片。

大多數(shù)普通人都能認(rèn)出名人，比如喬治·克魯尼的面孔，但是重度臉盲患者卻做不到。

專家們還發(fā)現(xiàn)，臉盲患者雖然記不住面孔，但是卻不影響他們記住物體、場景和身形。

你是不是為他們感到難過？但是，你也可以“好好利用”一下臉盲。下次遇到一時記不起來的人，趕緊說自己是臉盲，可以減少很多尷尬喲！
