Are you short-sighted? As we all know, it?蒺s bad for our eyes to use mobile phones and watch TV too much. It is said that eyesight also has something to do with the time to get an education. Is it true?
The more years you spend in full-time education, the more short-sighted you are likely to be, according to a large UK study.
The study is carried out by Cardiff and Bristol University scientists. They analysed (分析) information on the genetics (遺傳學(xué)), eyesight and educational background of 68,000 people in the UK. They wrote a report and sent it to a medical magazine in England.
The report tells that a person who spent 17 years on education is more short-sighted(近視) than someone who left school at the age of 16 after spending 12 years on education. It?蒺s about on average more than 100 degrees. The degrees mean the difference between having perfect eyesight and needing glasses to drive safely.
“In the world, the number of short-sighted people is more and more. And bad eyesight may cause other illness. The findings of this study are important and meaningful for educational practice.” said the scientist Jez from Cardiff University.
They found that the number of years at school and college strongly influenced eyesight, but there was no effect in the opposite direction. If someone is short-sighted, that will not lead him to remain in education for longer.
Don?蒺t worry! In fact, the reason is that students have too little time to stay in the bright natural light. And the advice from the scientists is for children to spend more of the day outdoors.

這是一個(gè)含that引導(dǎo)的賓語(yǔ)從句的復(fù)合句,在賓語(yǔ)從句里又包含兩個(gè)定語(yǔ)從句,who spent 17 years on education is more short-sighted修飾先行詞person,who left school at the age of 16 after spending 12 years on educa-ion修飾先行詞someone。
3.They found that the number of years at school and college strongly influenced eyesight, but there was no effect in the opposite direction.
