I am an Indian now working in Chaoyang District in Beijing. In this city, I can enjoy many compelling and distinct cultures which I think are the secret behind Beijings appeal to foreigners. As a movie lover, I am always thinking of ways to pull the hearts of people closer through the co-production of film. As such, the photo of the opening ceremony of the 2017 BRICS Film Festival in the September issue of your magazine attracted my attention. As most Chinese audiences know, recently, the Indian movie Dangal broke box office records with RMB 1.2 billion in ticket sales. Considering its massive success in China, we can understand that by using the language of film, the distance between the peoples of BRICS countries and the world can be narrowed. Although the current circumstances of each of the five countries are vastly different, there are many problems that we all face, and film is a wonderful medium for solving our common social issues.

IN September of this year, the BRICS Summit was a big event that drew worldwide attention. By reading your special report on BRICS, I was better able to understand the significance of this summit. I am convinced that with the development of China, the BRICS Summit will have a big impact on global politics and economy. I am also very interested in the real changes BRICS has made to the daily lives of Chinese citizens. What will be the influence of BRICS in Africa? With this question in mind, I carefully read the interview with South African Ambassador to China Dolana Msinmang, entitled “BRICS: Stronger Partnerships for a Brighter Future,” from which I learned that a Tripartite Free Trade Agreement was signed among three African regional economic committees and 28 African countries under a single market umbrella. I believe this will encourage enduring intra-Africa trade through market integration, infrastructure development, and the industrial development of North-South regional corridors to further enhance connectivity and competitiveness in Africa. I also noted that intra-African regional integration is set to benefit from the Chinese governments proposal of the Belt and Road Initiative. I hope to read more about the relationship between China and Africa in the future!
