“What’s the result?”

When I came back from the examination playground,Mrs.Cai asked me in an anxious voice.

“I got a fullscore[分數(shù)]!” Iexclaimed[大喊].

She gave me a bear hug before I could finish,making it hard for me to breath.

“You did it!” she yelled,jumping and dancing.My tears graduallyblurred[模糊]my sight,and my thoughts drifted,remembering one special afternoon a long time ago…

“Run,run,run,keep running! You can do it!” Mrs.Cai shouted as I was suffering in the P.E.class.On my second 400 meters,I felt like my legs were made of stones.My throat was reallysore[疼痛的]and there was asplitting[爆裂的]ache in my lungs.Looking at the endless racetrack,I thought I could never reach the finish line.

There were still 200 meters left for me as the first competitor had crossed the finish line.I was more frustrated than ever.Butterflieswere flyingin mystomach[心情緊張]and it felt like I was burning with fire.Sweatblending[混合]with tearstrickled[淌]down my cheeks.

“I can’t do it,” a voice rose up from my heart,“it’s too hard for me.” I slowed down.

“Lucy,come on!” Mrs.Cai called with encouragement,“You can do it! There are only 200 meters left!” But I was too tired to go any further.It was almost impossible for me to keep running.How could I everimprove[提高]my score?

“Five minutes and one second,” my teacher told me.

I kept silent.I could tell she was disappointed.

“You would have gotten an excellent record—just by running faster at the last 200 meters.”

“But I just can’t!” I shouted at her,as anger built up in me.“Did you think I didn’t try to run faster? I did! But I just can’t!”

She looked in my eyes with peace and encouragement.Suddenly,I calmed down and felt guilty about what I had just said.

“I’m sorry,Mrs.Cai,” Istammered[結結巴巴],“I didn’t mean it,I’m just…I’m just alittle…” I stole a glance at her,feeling panic.

“It’s OK,” she said.“Next time I will run the last 200 meters with you,OK? The goal is three minutes and twenty five seconds.Do I have the honor to make it come true with you?”

“Yes,yes,of course,” Imumbled[含糊地說],but I just couldn’t believe my ears.

From that day on,we ran every day,and Mrs.Cai always ran the last 200 meters with me.At first,it seemed impossible for me to follow her because she was always 50 meters ahead of me,but gradually,I caught up with her.Finally,I was even faster than her.While I was running,I suddenly got a feeling of being part of nature,absorbing the air like a tree.The fresh oxygen which filled up my lungs produceda bundle of[一大堆]joy.That joy started to spread throughout my body.

My dream had finally come true! Thanks to her company and encouragement!

“Thank you!” I said.“It was you who helped me succeed today.Thank you for everything you did for me.”

“No,” she looked me in the eye,“it was not me that made you succeed.It was love,the love between teachers and students.”

Yes,love makes me fly.Everything that pushes you forward on the road to success comes from love.I believe I can achieve anything,as long as there is love in my heart.
