Qingming Bridge
Located in Wuxi, Qingming Bridge, originally called Qingning Bridge, was constructed in the Ming Dynasty with personal donations. It is now the famous old granite bridge along the Old Grand River. With only one arch, it exhibits the traditional architectural style of the Yangtze River District. Without decoration, the bridge has its history inscribed on the stones beside it.
Guangji Bridge
Guangli is the only existing 7-arch stone bridge. In addition to this, it is also the largest preserved thin-pier multiple arch stone bridge across the Grand Canal. It has recorded numerous prosperous dates in the Grand Canal's history, along with being essential to daily life of the people nearby. Since the wharf was built near the bridge, it is also called “Tou Bu”, meaning the main trading port.
Bazi Bridge
Located in the downtown of Shaoxing city, this 800-year old bridge is regarded as one of China's earliest advanced bridges. Because of its distinctive layout, it looks like the Chinese character eight, hence the “ba” (eight) in its name. The 5-meter structure is also a great location for you to lap up the surrounding views. Locals still live in a very traditional way and most houses were originally built in the Qing Dynasty and are well kept. Local women wash clothes in the canals beside their houses. Seniors fan coal stoves as they cook, and thin streams of smoke rise into the sky.
