Getting Ready for the Reef

Needless to say, the trip to the Great Barrier Reef is a great experience.

Day one began early at a dive shop in Cairns. It took a few hours to get to the first1)reef, so we had a chance to2)soak in the sun and meet the people we’d be hanging out with.

3)Snorkeling was awesome. Even from the surface of the water,4)visibility was great and I had an incredible view of the reef. Between the fish, the5)clams and the endless6)coral, there was something interesting and colorful to look at in every direction. When the sun hit the reef, everything seemed even more7)vibrant and alive.

The rest of our first day was a8)combination of diving, eating and relocating to a number of reefs. After spending the evening hanging out with new friends from Switzerland, Sweden and the USA, I was ready to get rocked to sleep.

An Unexpected Dive

As we swam around, I saw tons of colorful9)species of fish diving in and out of the coral. I also saw10)starfish11)swaying in the waves as sharks glided along the sand. Before I knew it, 45 minutes had passed, I had gone 9.6 meters deep in the Great Barrier Reef, and we were making our way back to the boat.

I couldn’t believe how relaxed I felt! The experience was totally12)surreal. Everything seemed to move in slow motion. To say that it was the craziest, most incredible experience of my life would be an13)understatement.

I was always reminded of the day when I stepped far out of my comfort zone and dove deep into the Great Barrier Reef. My diving experience was really the best decision I made on my last Australian adventure. If I had to describe the experience in one word, I’d say diving in the Great Barrier Reef was simply unbelievable.

向大堡礁出發(fā)

不用說，大堡礁之旅是一次激動人心的經(jīng)歷。

旅程第一天，我們一早就來到了凱恩斯市的一家潛水用品商店。我們花了幾個小時才到達第一個礁群，所以一路上就可以享受陽光，和將一起結(jié)伴而行的人們見見面、聊聊天。

在這里進行浮潛真是太棒了。即使是游在水面，可視度也非常好，我可以很清楚地看到水里的珊瑚礁。到處都是魚、蚌，還有無窮無盡的珊瑚，四面八方都有新奇有趣、繽紛多彩的東西可看。當(dāng)陽光投射到珊瑚礁上，所有的一切更顯得活力四射、生機勃勃。

在第一天剩下的時間里，我們下海潛水、吃吃喝喝，還去了其他好幾個礁群。晚上，我與來自瑞士、瑞典和美國的新朋友們在一起玩鬧，接著便準(zhǔn)備要酣然入睡了。

五彩斑斕的水下世界

我們在水下四處游動的時候，我看到各種各樣五顏六色的魚兒在珊瑚叢中鉆進鉆出，還看到海星隨波搖擺，以及鯊魚沿著砂石滑動著。不知不覺地，我已經(jīng)在大堡礁下潛了9.6米深，45分鐘已經(jīng)過去，我們得回到船上了。

我沒想到自己會如此身心放松。這次旅行真是讓人感覺太不真實了，所有的一切似乎都是在慢慢進行著。把這次旅行描述成我今生最瘋狂、最不可思議的經(jīng)歷都顯得有點兒輕描淡寫了。

我常?；叵肫鹉翘斓那樾巍?dāng)我走出自己的舒適區(qū)，深深潛入大堡礁的水里。進行潛水真是我在最近的澳大利亞之行中所做出的最正確的決定。如果要用一個詞來形容在大堡礁潛水的經(jīng)歷，我會說那就是難以置信的。
