名詞性從句學(xué)習(xí)“步步高”

在英語(yǔ)三大復(fù)合句(定語(yǔ)從句、狀語(yǔ)從句和名詞性從句)的學(xué)習(xí)中,名詞性從句是最難的。其難點(diǎn)在于種類(lèi)多,結(jié)構(gòu)識(shí)別比較難;二是連接詞數(shù)量多,準(zhǔn)確選擇的確難;三是應(yīng)用范圍廣,恰當(dāng)應(yīng)用有些難。但是,我們只要按照下面的方法來(lái)學(xué)習(xí),就一定能夠做到“步步高”:認(rèn)得出,做得對(duì),用得好!
在復(fù)合句中起名詞作用的從句叫作名詞性從句。它包括主語(yǔ)從句、賓語(yǔ)從句、表語(yǔ)從句和同位語(yǔ)從句。那么,怎樣來(lái)識(shí)別這四種從句呢?

【簡(jiǎn)析】主語(yǔ)從句在謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞“is”之前,引導(dǎo)詞“when”在從句中作時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)。從句作主語(yǔ)時(shí)謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞一般用單數(shù)。
2. That we will have a picnic next Sunday excites us all these days.
【簡(jiǎn)析】在謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞“excites”之前;從句結(jié)構(gòu)及意義均完整,故須用“無(wú)成分,無(wú)意義”的引導(dǎo)詞that。that引導(dǎo)主語(yǔ)、表語(yǔ)、同位語(yǔ)從句時(shí)不可省略。
3. It was unimaginable that it could ever be cleaned_up.(2014新課標(biāo)卷Ⅰ,語(yǔ)法填空改編,61)
【簡(jiǎn)析】本句中“It”作形式主語(yǔ),替代后面真正的主語(yǔ)從句。
【知識(shí)拓展一】常用it作形式主語(yǔ)的基本句式:(1)It+be+名詞+that從句;(2)It+be+形容詞+that從句;(3)It+be+動(dòng)詞的過(guò)去分詞+that從句;(4)It+不及物動(dòng)詞+that從句。
【知識(shí)拓展二】在主語(yǔ)從句中用來(lái)表示驚奇、不相信、惋惜、理應(yīng)如此等語(yǔ)氣時(shí),謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞要用虛擬語(yǔ)氣“(should)+do”,常用的句型有:
It is necessary (important,natural,strange,etc.)that...
It is a pity (a shame,no wonder,etc.) that...
It is suggested (requested,proposed,desired,etc.)that...

【簡(jiǎn)析】本段中用到多個(gè)賓語(yǔ)從句,that在賓語(yǔ)從句中不作句子成分。當(dāng)一個(gè)動(dòng)詞帶有兩個(gè)或兩個(gè)以上賓語(yǔ)從句時(shí),第一個(gè)that可以省略,第二個(gè)that不可以省略。
2. She always thinks of how she can work well.
【簡(jiǎn)析】畫(huà)線(xiàn)部分作介詞of(或短語(yǔ)think of)的賓語(yǔ)。how在從句中作方式狀語(yǔ)。要注意:在名詞性從句中只用陳述語(yǔ)序。
3. I am glad that you are satisf ed with your job.
【簡(jiǎn)析】英文中“be+glad/certain/sure/afraid/pleased...”后可以接賓語(yǔ),稱(chēng)之為“be+形容詞”搭配。
【知識(shí)拓展三】賓語(yǔ)從句連接詞選擇四要點(diǎn):
1. 如果賓語(yǔ)從句是個(gè)陳述句,常用連詞that引導(dǎo);
2. 如果賓語(yǔ)從句是由特殊疑問(wèn)句變來(lái)的,該從句可以用由原來(lái)引導(dǎo)特殊疑問(wèn)句的疑問(wèn)代詞或疑問(wèn)副詞變來(lái)的連接代詞或連接副詞引導(dǎo);
3. 如賓語(yǔ)從句表示不肯定或疑問(wèn),如“是否”“是不是”“能否”等,就用連詞if/whether來(lái)引導(dǎo);
4. 有的賓語(yǔ)從句表示“某人在某地/某時(shí)做的事(說(shuō)的話(huà)、想到的、記得的)”等意思時(shí),就要用關(guān)系代詞what來(lái)引導(dǎo)該從句,what本身既是引導(dǎo)詞,又在從句中作賓語(yǔ)。
【知識(shí)拓展四】賓語(yǔ)從句中常常后跟“should+動(dòng)詞原形(should可省略)”的動(dòng)詞:

【簡(jiǎn)析】畫(huà)線(xiàn)部分在系動(dòng)詞is之后,故為表語(yǔ)從句。連接詞how作方式狀語(yǔ)。
2. It looks as if it is going to rain.
【簡(jiǎn)析】畫(huà)線(xiàn)部分在系動(dòng)詞looks之后,故為表語(yǔ)從句。連接詞as if/as though可引導(dǎo)表語(yǔ)從句。
【知識(shí)拓展五】常見(jiàn)系動(dòng)詞巧記口訣:

【經(jīng)典例句】同位語(yǔ)從句
1. The news that our Women Volleyball Team has won the game is exciting.
2. Word came that our Women Volleyball Team has won the game.
【簡(jiǎn)析】這兩句均為同位語(yǔ)從句,特征是說(shuō)明其前面名詞的具體內(nèi)容。其中第二句出現(xiàn)了“分割現(xiàn)象”——名詞和同位語(yǔ)從句被謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞等分割開(kāi)來(lái)。同位語(yǔ)從句通常由that引導(dǎo),也可根據(jù)需要用到其他一些連接詞??捎糜谕徽Z(yǔ)從句的常見(jiàn)名詞有:advice,demand,doubt,fact,hope,idea,information,message,news,order,problem,promise,question,request,suggestion,truth,wish,word等。
【知識(shí)拓展六】同位語(yǔ)從句和定語(yǔ)從句的區(qū)別:
that作為關(guān)系代詞,可以引導(dǎo)定語(yǔ)從句,充當(dāng)句子成分,在從句中作賓語(yǔ)時(shí)可以省略; that引導(dǎo)同位語(yǔ)從句時(shí),起連詞的作用,沒(méi)有實(shí)際意義,不充當(dāng)句子成分,不能省略。
試比較下面兩個(gè)例句:
I had no idea that you were here.(that引導(dǎo)同位語(yǔ)從句,不能省略)
Have you got the idea(that)this book gives you of life in ancient Greece?(that引導(dǎo)定語(yǔ)從句,作賓語(yǔ),可以省略)
引導(dǎo)名詞性從句的連詞常常被分為三類(lèi):連 接 詞:that,whether,if(不充當(dāng)從句的任何成分);連接代詞:what,whatever,who,whoever,whom,whose,which和連接副詞:when,where,how,why。為了學(xué)習(xí)的簡(jiǎn)潔方便,我們把它們統(tǒng)稱(chēng)為“連接詞”。
在英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)和高考中,名詞性從句連接詞(或引導(dǎo)詞)的考查是難點(diǎn)和熱點(diǎn)。不過(guò),只要我們抓住兩個(gè)要點(diǎn):語(yǔ)法功能(從句中所缺成分)和詞義辨析(連詞的意義),這個(gè)問(wèn)題即可迎刃而解。

【解析】that改為where。短語(yǔ)“close to”中的to是介詞,其后應(yīng)該是賓語(yǔ)從句。在賓語(yǔ)從句中,該引導(dǎo)詞須表示“在哪里”這個(gè)意義,并須充當(dāng)“地點(diǎn)狀語(yǔ)”。故應(yīng)將that改為where。
【高考鏈接】(2016全國(guó)卷Ⅱ,短文改錯(cuò))Some classmates suggest we can go to places of interest nearby.
【解析】can改為should或刪去。在suggest等動(dòng)詞后的賓語(yǔ)從句中,應(yīng)該用“should+動(dòng)詞原形”的虛擬語(yǔ)氣形式,此時(shí)should可以省去。
【高考鏈接】(2015全國(guó)卷Ⅱ,語(yǔ)法填空,70)As natural architects,the Pueblo Indians f gured out exactly_______thick the adobe walls needed to be to make the cycle work on most days.
【解析】how。f gured out后接賓語(yǔ)從句,空格后為形容詞或副詞時(shí)一般用how。

【解析】that。同位語(yǔ)從句,說(shuō)明“suggestion”的內(nèi)容,而且同位語(yǔ)從句成分和意思都是完整的。故用that引導(dǎo),that不作成分,只起連接作用。

【解析】How。謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞“has”之前的內(nèi)容為主語(yǔ)從句。主語(yǔ)從句中主謂賓齊全,但從意義上來(lái)講句意不完整,how在此處作方式狀語(yǔ),意為“如何;怎樣”。

【解析】Where。這是個(gè)主語(yǔ)從句。根據(jù)“Li Bai...was born”可知,從句成分完整,應(yīng)用表示地點(diǎn)的副詞where引導(dǎo)。
【高考鏈接】(2015陜西卷,單選改編,19)Reading her biography,I was lost in admiration for________Doris Lessing had achieved in literature.
【解析】what。此處為介詞for的賓語(yǔ)從句,what在句中須作及物動(dòng)詞achieved的賓語(yǔ)。
【高考鏈接】(2015湖北卷,單句翻譯改編,76)We must act as quickly as possible now. Just tell us________you can undertake the task or not.
【解析】whether/if?!局R(shí)拓展】if和whether引導(dǎo)賓語(yǔ)從句時(shí)的辨析:whether與if在作“是否”的意思講時(shí),在下列情況下一般只能用whether,不用if:
1. 引導(dǎo)主語(yǔ)從句并在句首時(shí);2.引導(dǎo)表語(yǔ)從句時(shí);3.引導(dǎo)從句作介詞賓語(yǔ)時(shí);4.連詞后緊接“or not”時(shí),但若分開(kāi)時(shí)也可以用if;5.后接動(dòng)詞不定式時(shí)。
名詞性從句作為英語(yǔ)中一個(gè)重要的語(yǔ)言現(xiàn)象,廣泛存在于閱讀理解、完形填空以及短文改錯(cuò)和語(yǔ)法填空中,對(duì)這個(gè)項(xiàng)目的理解能夠幫助我們很好地完成試卷預(yù)設(shè)的題目。此外,我們還可以充分利用名詞性從句的特征來(lái)為書(shū)面表達(dá)“增分添彩”!
