Les désorientés is a French novel of autobiographic nature set against the dramatic change of Lebanon throughout the most recent 25 years. It is an exquisite portrayal of the “Lost Generation” in the nation.

As a Christian in the Arab world and an Arab in the Western world, Amin Maalouf surgically dissects the concept of “homeland” from the angle of literature, and narrates in lengthy details how the 15-year Lebanese Civil War (1975-1990) has impacted the nation at large and its people who opted to stay or leave.

Aniara, a collection of epic science fi ction poems by Harry Martinson, is a major milestone in the history of Swedish literature for its profound insights, grand scheme, and brilliant imagination. Some critics even liken it to Goethe's Faust in terms of its signif i cance in mirroring the realities of mankind.

The 103 poems included in the book are of various styles, rhyme or free verse, narrative, philosophical, or popular (ballads). The language is humorous, lively, fl uent and even chantable. Lectures on Guoxue is a compilation of the author's lectures for the teaching of Guoxue classes. The author, Prof. Wei Chengsi, is an eminent disciple of Buddhist Master Nan Huaijin (1918-2012). The author delves into some of the ancient Chinese books and classics, including the Four Books, the Five Classics, the works of philosophers other than Confucianists, and the Twenty-Four Histories, all in simple easyto-understand language. This book indeed makes for excellent reading for the beginners of Guoxue.
