CCS Supports Establishment of New Eco-shipping

The relevant parties in the shipping industry chain have indicated that they should adapt to the new environment, and will inject new energy into the new ecological environment. As an important part of the shipping industry chain, the classification society plays an important role in the construction of the new ecoshipping.
As an important leader of maritime technology,International Association of Classification Societies(IACS)is dedicated to maritime safety and environmental protection since its foundation, especially in the innovation and green technology, IACS constantly introduced safety,high-efficiency energy-conservation technology standard,which has made outstanding contributions to safety and environmental protection of shipping industry.
As a member of IACS, China Classification Society(CCS)has always been bound up with development of the industry since its foundation.
In recent years, CCS has constantly optimized the technological innovation system and mechanism,strengthened joint research and development efforts with industry, continuously made innovations in the joint research and development mode, and has jointly built a cooperation platform with governments, energy companies,shipping and shipbuilding companies. It adopts“risk-based”research & development concept, carries out intensive theoretical research and experimental study and has resolved many practical problems.
The evolution of the global shipping situation and the green wave led by new technology is unprecedented, which urgently requires CCS to adopt technological development and innovation to promote the healthy and sustainable development of the global shipping industry. Over the years, CCS has been actively promoting and participatingin innovation and development. In terms of technological innovation, CCS has actively promoted energy-saving emission reduction, ship information, intelligent ships,green navigation and other technology and has made an important contribution to the shipping industry to significantly reduce the“carbon footprint”and conform to the trend of environmental protection. In addition, CCS is also involved in related research works such as the development of common structure rules, implementation of EEDI energy saving technology, the research and application of polar rules and etc. The world’s first 250 thousand tons ore carrier is the outstanding achievement of CCS cooperation with shipping, shipbuilding and design companies. In addition, how to apply information technology, big data, mobile internet to ship and make ship more intelligent, including making ship more energyefficient, improve the management level, reduce the cost and other aspects are the problems of CCS current focus.
In December 2015, aimed at making ship more economical,more reliable, safer and more environmentally friendly,CCS introduced the world's first rule for intelligent ships.The core driving force of intelligent ship is the resultant force of application of unmanned aircraft, automobile,constant pursuit of ship owners to energy saving, safety and environmental protection and rapid development of intelligent sensor, networking, big data analysis,communication technology and etc.
The Rule for Intelligent Ships cover intelligent navigation,intelligent hull, intelligent engine room, intelligent energy efficiency management, intelligent cargo management,intelligent integrated system, and etc. The introduction of the Rule will have far-reaching influence to the shipping,shipbuilding, shipbuilding equipment industry, and prove that led by the Rule, CCS has taken a substantial step to try to boost the healthy and rapid development of ship intelligent technology, and help the shipping industry recover from the hard time.
