      STUDY APPLIED ON BA IN PATIENTS WITH BRAIN TRAUMA

      In order to explore value applied on BA in patients with brain trauma. BA was examined in 124 patients with brain trauma. These results were reported as follow now.

      Data and Method

      1. Clinical data

      These patients were 124 cases. In these patients,extradural hematoma was 4 cases , subdural hematoma was 2 cases , concussion of brain was 7 cases , traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage was 1 case , post-traumatic brain syndrome was 103 cases,post-traumatic epilepsy was 7cases.

      2. Method

      124 patients were examined by BA-Ⅲequipment made in USA . According to 10/20 system of international stardard , 21 recording electrodes were installed. Resistance<10kΩ. Fpzwas electrode contacting ground . Resistance<1kΩ.The magnifying rate of instrument was 20000. The filtrating wave of high frequence was 30Hz and 1ow frequence was 1.0Hz . Recoding time was ten minutes . The EEG of 30 seconds without artifact were FFTed . Then BA was analyzed.

      Results and Analysis

      1. The positive rate of BA in patients with brain trauma

      The positive rate of BA in patients with brain trauma was 100%.

      2. The change of BA in patients with brain trauma

      In extradural hematoma , BA shows fusiform high power shadow in δ band . In subdural hematoma,BA shows crescent high power shadow in δ band.The BA of cocussion of brain shows local or suffused high power shadow in δ or θ band . The BA of traumatic epilepsy shows local high power shadow in lesion region in δ band and spike or sharp wave change. The BA of post-traumatic syndrome shows local or suffused high power shadow in β band or low power shadow in α band.

      Discussion

      Brain atlas(BA) that is brain electrical activity mapping (BEAM) or quantitative electroencephalogram(qEEG)etc is an important imaging diagnostic technique on electrophysiology after CT and MRI. It can diagnose functional disease and help diagnose also organic disease. When change of function of brain ,BA can show abnormality.Therefore , BA can diagnose some functional diseases due to trauma, such as concussion of brain and post-traumatic brain syndrome.In organic diseases such as extradural hematoma. subdural hematoma, traumatic subarachnoide hemorrhage, BA can show qualitative and level diagnosis and functional change of brain cell around diseases. The result of study shows that the clinical value applied of BA was important in patients with brain trauma. Therefore,BA was a better diagnostic method in brain trauma.This method was well worth popularized and studied further.
