Commercial Production of Novel Catalyst for Isomerization of C8Aromatics at SINOPEC

The novel catalyst for isomerization of C8aromatics developed by SINOPE’s Research Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP) has been produced in commercial scale at the Catalyst Factory of the Fushun Petrochemical Company following two scale-up experiments. The said catalyst belongs to a deethylation type catalyst for isomerization of C8aromatic hydrocarbons, which has demonstrated its good adaptability and activity in the course of its trial application, with the para-xylene yield exceeding 23.5% along with an increase in its selectivity. It is learned that the first batch of the newly produced catalyst amounts to 35 metric tons, which will be delivered to the aromatics production section of the SINOPEC’s Shanghai Petrochemical Company.
