    November 11-14,2012; Westin Diplomat Resort,Hollywood,FL,USA

Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have brought forth a vast amount of information on genetic risk factors for cancer. The conference will showcase and discuss new areas of research in molecular epidemiology, focusing on the integration of novel measures of internal and external environmental factors in consortia and genetic studies.Research findings will be presented to illustrate the vast potential within the context of epidemiologic studies in a post-GWAS context to further the prevention of cancer and elucidate mechanisms of carcinogenesis.Large-scale publicly-available research resources will be highlighted and their "rules to play" discussed.Late-breaking findings from genomics, epigenomics, and proteomics in epidemiologic studies will be presented with a view to discern the most promising strategies with the greatest public health impact. For more information, please visit:http://www.aacr.org/home/scientists/meetings--workshops/special-conferences/post-gwas-horizons-in-molecularepidemiology.aspx.

Translational cancer research for basic scientists

    November 26-December 1,2012; Hilton Boston Back Bay,Boston,MA,USA

This workshop is hosted in close collaboration with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Cancer Center, comprised of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center,Brigham and Women’s Hospital,Children’s Hospital Boston,Dana-Farber Cancer Institute,Harvard Medical School,Harvard School of Public Health and Massachusetts General Hospital. The Translational Cancer Research for Basic Scientists Workshop will provide basic research scientists with a better understanding of translational research, teach them how to adapt their research for maximum clinical impact, and help them transition into a new career in translational cancer medicine. This innovative workshop addresses many aspects of translational research including leading multidisciplinary teams, working collaboratively and effectively with industry partners, recognizing the unique needs and environment of the clinic and clinical laboratories, dealing with the regulatory and compliance issues in translational science, and understanding the perspective of the patient in order to place research questions into a broader context.During the course of the week, attendees will gain perspective and background knowledge of the disease from translational scientists in academia and industry, clinicians and patients, while learning about the latest methods and approaches in cutting-edge translational cancer research. For further information, please contact Lyngine Calizo,Ph.D.,program administrator,at (215) 446-7265 or lyngine.calizo@aacr.org.
