Iron Man was an ordinary（普通的) person before he got his powers. He is Tony Stark, CEO of a company that makes weapons(武器) for the US army. Tony got the company after his father died.

Tony lives the life of a hard-drinking, rich playboy（花花公子), but he is also good at his job. He has invented many high-tech weapons for this company. One day, he flies to Afghanistan（阿富汗) to test new weapons for the US Air Force. On his way back to his plane, terrorists（恐怖分子) attack him, and wound him.

The terrorists put Tony in a cave（山洞) with Yinsen, a doctor. Yinsen treats Tony and saves his life.

The terrorists ask Tony to produce weapons for them. But instead, Tony builds a suit of armor(鐵甲) with Yinsens help. The suit helps Tony escape(逃避) the terrorists.

Back in the US, Tony builds a better suit of armor. It gives him superhuman strength（力量) and the ability to fly. He vows（發(fā)誓) to protect the world as Iron Man.

Satellites for Weather Forecast

每天當(dāng)我們收看天氣預(yù)報(bào)時(shí)，我們不但能聽(tīng)到天氣預(yù)報(bào)員的解說(shuō)，而且還能看到清晰的彩色衛(wèi)星云圖。有了這些實(shí)時(shí)傳送過(guò)來(lái)的圖像，未來(lái)的天氣變化一目了然，天氣預(yù)報(bào)也變得迅捷而準(zhǔn)確?？墒悄阒绬?氣象云圖的拍攝與傳送都離不開(kāi)一位忠實(shí)的太空千里眼——?dú)庀笮l(wèi)星。

Now satellites are helping to forecast the weather. They are in space, and they can reach any part of the world. The satellite takes pictures of the clouds above the earth, because this is where the weather forms. They send these pictures to the weather stations. So the workers in the weather stations can see the weather of any part of the world. From the pictures, the scientists can tell people how the weather will change.

Today, nearly 500 weather stations in 60 countries receive satellite pictures. When they receive new pictures, the scientists compare them with earlier ones. Perhaps they may find that clouds have changed during the last few hours. This may mean that the weather on the ground may soon change, too. In their next weather forecast, the weatherman can say this.

So the weather satellites are a great help to the scientists. Before satellites were invented, the scientists could forecast the weather for three or five days. Soon, perhaps, they may be able to forecast for a week or more ahead.
